THE ICON:

The Philishave was invented by Alexandre Horowitz, introduced by Philips in 1939, revolutionising electric shaving with its innovative rotary cutting head.

It went through multiple refinements through the 50’s, adopting twin heads; it was sometimes known as the Steel beard.

In the mid-1960’s, the first three circular foiled shavers were released onto the market with the understated product number 8130. This is the design principle still used today.

The early 70s saw many further upgrades.

The image featured is the sought after Philishave Exclusive (90 Super)featuring the distinctive triangular metal plate housing the three heads and ergonomic handle giving it a premium futuristic look, epitomising 70s luxury and gadgetry. The composition, the light and camera angle emphasise the clean lines and materials that went into its manufacture.
